Healthwatch Hillingdon undertook an announced enter and view visit to Parkfield House Nursing Home on 10 December 2025. They spoke to 15 people.
Overall, the home was found to be clean, modern, welcoming, and well‑organised, with clear signage, high security standards, and friendly staff. Residents appeared calm, well presented, and comfortable. Activity information, staff recognition boards, and festive decorations created a pleasant environment. Staff described supportive management, good teamwork, and regular training.
Residents reported feeling safe, happy, and satisfied with staff responsiveness, the friendliness of the team, and the quality of activities. Many were positive about the food and the home’s cleanliness. They also felt comfortable asking questions or making complaints, although some felt follow‑ups were not always immediate.
Some concerns were identified. Signage for people living with dementia was inconsistent, and there were no sensory or specialised dementia‑friendly features in some areas. Residents highlighted issues with carpets, wall cleanliness, and occasional odours. A few wanted greater food variety. Staff reported challenges contacting families and said that palliative care days could be emotionally and physically demanding.
Management described ongoing improvements, including renovations, a new monthly newsletter, and updates to catering provision that involve resident input.
